Cave Tour
The impressive caves of Bukit Lawang and Batu Kapal are a must see during your stay. We offer 2 tour options, a 3 hour tour of the nearby Bat cave or a longer 5 hour tour of the Batu Ships cave. Both tours include guide fees, cave permits, lunch and an opportunity for swimming.
Option 1. The Bat cave
Just 30 mins walk from Bukit Lawang through rubber plantations and patches of forest lies the Bat cave. Surrounded by the beauty of the jungle, the Bat cave is a beauty in its own right.
Your guide will collect you at 8.30am from your accommodation and you will start your 1-2 hour tour. If you’re lucky, along the way, you may see the Thomas’ leaf monkey, long-tailed macaque and maybe even an orangutan or two.
After your tour of the cave chambers, where you will marvel at rock formations and watch as bats fly past, your guide will find a suitable place to stop for lunch on the Landak river, where you will have time to swim and relax, before you begin your walk back to your guesthouse.

Option 2. Batu Kapal/Ships cave
A 1 hr 30 mins/4kms guided walk through cacao plantations bordering the jungle will take you to the cave, so called because of its distinctive ship-like appearance.
